God Of Ideas Part 4 – Dream Team Or Kill Team

This is Part 4 of our series on the God of Ideas. The God of Ideas is the One who gives His children ideas to build wealth, solve problems, and transform nations. Today, I want to speak about the importance of choosing the right team to help you execute divine ideas. God’s ultimate goal is to advance His agenda on the earth, but He has delegated authority to man to carry out that assignment.

In the book of Exodus, when the Israelites were on their journey to the Promised Land, God gave Moses specific instructions to build the tabernacle, along with its sacred furnishings such as the Ark of the Testimony, the gold lampstand, and others. Moses was a prophet and a visionary, yet he could not accomplish these tasks alone. So God informed Moses that He had already set apart and anointed certain artisans to carry out the work.

Exodus 31:1–5 says: “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: ‘See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.’

“And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you: the tabernacle of meeting, the ark of the Testimony and the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furniture of the tabernacle— the table and its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense.”

Moses was given the ideas, but God had already appointed a dream team to help execute them. When God reveals ideas to you, for example in dreams, if you do not spend time in prayer seeking clarity about the people assigned to that vision, you may begin to believe the vision is not feasible or that you are incapable of accomplishing it. God knows the right team for every assignment, so you must pray to discern those He has purposed for the work.

In the world, when it comes to executing a project or managing an assignment, we naturally look for skilled people and those who align with our vision. However, when it comes to divine ideas, God must reveal who He has chosen for the task.

Consider the example of Jesus. When He selected His first apostles, many of them were fishermen and not formally learned. Yet after Jesus completed His earthly assignment and ascended to heaven, they carried the gospel across the world. If it were left to us, we might choose only the most skilled and experienced individuals to hand over such a mandate. But Jesus was looking for a team that God had already anointed for His earthly mission.

One reason some divine ideas do not come to fruition is that we become overly reliant on human skill rather than seeking those God has anointed for the work. Do not misunderstand me; this is not a call to choose unskilled people. Even when God selected a team to help Moses build the tabernacle, He chose individuals who were already skilled.

The key is this: seek God’s choice above human reasoning or what textbooks may suggest when approaching a project. When God reveals an idea, trust Him to also reveal the people He has prepared to help bring it to pass.

The dream team appointed by God carries specific attributes, as stated in Exodus 31:3: “And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship.”

God fills the appointed team with wisdom for the work, understanding, knowledge, and the skill required to help you execute the assignment He has given you. Some of the people God reveals to you may not look like the obvious choice, and it will require complete faith and trust in Him to bring them on board. If you rely only on what you see, you may overlook them, but when you trust God’s direction and move in obedience, you will ultimately realise that He knew exactly what your vision needed. Sometimes, you may have a dream about a project you are currently working on, one that came from God, and consistently see someone you are not even close to working alongside you. You need to pray about it. It may be a sign that God is showing you that this person carries a particular wisdom or skill you need for the project or the next level of your business.

Sometimes God will give you a team that you must train and build into the dream team you desire. God loves to empower people, and it is His desire to always give them the opportunity to learn, grow, and mature. Training is always part of His plan when He gives you ideas. He will send certain people your way, and one of His expectations of you as the visionary is that you train them. Sometimes the training is more important to God than the idea or the project.

Jesus spent three years training the apostles. Moses spent time training his assistant, Joshua the son of Nun. Elijah spent time training Elisha. Even Lot benefited from Abraham’s training. You can see this in Scripture, as the way Abraham received the angels in Genesis 18 is similar to the way Lot received them in Genesis 19. The Bible also says in Genesis 14:14, “Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.”

Finally, I want to highlight the importance of oversight when you delegate. Exodus 39:43, says, “Then Moses looked over all the work, and indeed they had done it as the Lord had commanded; just so they had done it. And Moses blessed them.”

Moses took time to carefully inspect the work and ensure that everything had been done according to God’s instruction. Although God had anointed the team to support him, Moses did not abandon his leadership responsibility. Instead, he remained diligent in supervising the work. In the same way, do not step away simply because God has confirmed the people assigned to help you. Stay attentive, inspect the work, and provide the necessary guidance.

We see a similar example in the garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus returned more than once to check on the apostles to see whether they were praying. This shows us that overseeing the work faithfully is just as important as carrying out the assignment God has given you.
